Me and Doc Gooden 1992
Hi, I'm John Giancaspro and I'm a New York born, raised and educated sports artist. As a graduate of the High School of Art & Design and a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from Fashion Institute
of Technology, I have been drawing since the age of 6. It wasn't until 1982 when I opened a pack of Donruss Baseball cards and discovered an Ivan DeJesus "Diamond Kings" card painted by sports artist Dick Perez. I knew at that moment I wanted to be a sports artist. In 1991 and 1992 I had the privilege of working at Shea Stadium as a bat boy for the New York Mets. There are some nice pictures from that time on my PHOTO ALBUM page. During my time with the Mets I created portraits for just about every player on those teams and several other players from around the National League: Barry Bonds, Ozzie Smith, Dwight Gooden to name a few. In 1992 I was invited to Pebble Beach to present George Brett and Robyn Yount with paintings commemorating their 3,000th hit. My work has also been featured in Beckett Baseball and Football Card Monthly Magazine and Sports Collectors Digest did a 2 page article on me and printed my painting of Dan Marino on the cover of that issue. I was also a guest live on Fox 5's Good New York television show painting faces of Yankee fans at the World Series parade in 1998. I am also well known in the sports collecting industry for my unique works of art on sports equipment such as hand painted baseballs, home plates, footballs, football helmets, basketballs, boxing gloves and jersey's. With an eye for detail a photo realistic style and years of experience producing sports art, I've mastered both watercolor and acrylic techniques. I offer a lot of great choices for affordable, one of a kind gifts and collectibles that would be treasured for years. Please contact me for any questions you may have. Thanks for looking, your interest in my work is much appreciated! "Because of the competition in the art field I consider myself an athlete. Art is my sport." ~John Giancaspro CONTACT: jgsportsgallery@aol.com My Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/usr/jgsportsgallery07 FEATURED ITEM:
